About Maxime Bouzidi

Maxime Bouzidi is an inventive, sensitive adventurer, with boundless curiosity and the respectful passion of a self-taught. Enthusiastic and cultured, he is an unrepentant dreamer grounded in reality. The highly personal career path that inspired him to open signé seems to have come straight from the pages of a Patrick Modiano novel. Highly attuned to the sensorial vocabulary and context of spaces, this Breton-born designer spent his formative adolescent years in London, before coming to Paris, where, through a series of fortuitous exchanges, he began to hunt for Scandinavian furniture in Denmark, the Netherlands and in Belgium. After sharpening his eye in the warehouses of Nordic countries and completing multiple interior decoration projects for private clients, during which he learned about designing and producing custom furniture, he developed an impressive design culture—which naturally echoing his passion for history. His personal pantheon includes such figures as André Arbus, Carlo Scarpa and Louis Kahn, as well as Finn Juhl, the Italian Radical design movement and Donald Judd. Along with Michel Ragon’s writings on the history of architecture and Pierre Restany’s work on the objets-plus. The result? signé will produces, in limited or larger series, precisely designed furniture with consummate sensual comfort - diametrically opposed to the flashy look of a certain type of collectible style—created by understated designers trained in the highly demanding school of creating commissioned work for private clients.
