JAUNE

THE ARCHITECT MARINE DELALOY AND INTERIOR DESIGNER PAULA ALVAREZ DE TOLEDO FOUNDED THE AGENCY JAUNE IN 2015 AFTER SPENDING A NUMBER OF YEARS AT STUDIO KO AND JOSEPH DIRAND RESPECTIVELY. THE DUO, WHOSE AGENCY’S NAME IS A NOD TO THEIR MARSEILLE ROOTS, COMBINE THEIR SKILLS AND INSPIRATIONS ON BEHALF OF PRIVATE RESIDENCES, BOUTIQUES AND HOTELS.

Materials are their primary source of inspiration. For each project, the young architects offer a strong, narrow choice of fine materials, such as wood, stone, marble, leather and bronze, carefully chosen for their singular properties. They are fond of living, natural and textured materials that develop a patina over time. These meticulously selected materials serve as a guiding thread; they punctuate and clarify the space, play with light, set the tone, and determine the soul and identity of the spaces in question. From the structure to the layout through the bespoke furniture design, Marine and Paula oversee the projects as a whole, attentive to the coherence of the spaces down to the subtlest detail. The two thirtysomethings dispense advice and express their sensibilities, yet remain extremely adaptable. Their work shuns the ornamental and superfluous in favour of elegant, soothing and contemporary atmospheres that create open and welcoming living spaces. The Jaune agency is currently working on private projects, along with a hotel in Mexico, whose opening is planned for 2020.
