ARTURO ARITA

FLORIST ARTURO ARITA OPENED HIS FIRST SHOP JUST A STONE’S THROW FROM THE PALAIS-ROYAL AND THE COUR CARRÉE OF THE LOUVRE. A LUXURIANT SETTING, MAGICAL AND PEOTIC, A BOUTIQUE OF WONDERS, IN WHICH ONE COULD HAPPILY LOSE ONESELF.

Originally from Honduras, this young New Yorker whom Paris quickly made one of its own, has always been fascinated by the majesty of the vast leaves that unfurl in botanical gardens all over the world, those opulent places so infused with mystery, perfumes, colours and faceted shapes that make up an enchanting botanical landscape. In his shop, against an exquisite backdrop of geometric and mineral shapes, Arturo Arita composes his decidedly contemporary, sumptuous floral artworks, with stylised forms and precise arrangements. Pure lines, voluptuous shapes and radiant colour come together in harmonious, elegant compositions. Vivacious, colourful, vibrant and modern, these floral and leafy sculptures captivate aesthetes and inquisitive visitors seeking artistic sensibility. A lover of Art Deco, he likes to play with coloured vases to elevate his creations and devise endless graphic tableaux that you can linger over in the window as you pass by.

THE ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT

The work of architect Sophie Dries, Arturo Arita’s flower shop is inspired by the Mannerist grottos of the Italian Renaissance. The architecture of the boutique subtly reinterprets the baroque fantasies in which mineral freshness and lush vegetation come together. The modest palette, contrasting textures and reflection of mirrors bring to mind the Art Deco references that the floral artist is so fond of: order, colour and geometry. Sconces by André Arbus and in pyrite help create a warm, intimate ambiance, within a pared-back concept that allows us to appreciate the full beauty of the flowers. The matteness of the tuff on the wall contrasts with the remarkable polish of the Brazilian marble that welcomes visitors. It is here, on this monolithic stone, that the magic happens; this is where the artist’s floral creations come to life, under the admiring and moved gaze of his customers. A true invitation to travel, to give in to reverie and abandon, Arturo Arita’s boutique is an absolute must for anyone looking for that most beautiful of ways to send a message.
